sher, your "rose and clod-of-dirt story really seems like you're blaming yourself for all of this. it isn't you, you know. you didn't do anything to drive him away, and though you can't and won't believe this right now, you won't be able to do anything to make him come back--it's up to him, and frankly, if he's stupid enough not to have realized what he's letting go of, he doesn't deserve you. this is all so cliche, and i've heard it myself so many times and not followed it, but i feel obligated to tell you anyway.
